WELCOME TO GRACE OPC!
On behalf of the session of Grace OPC, I want to extend our warmest greetings to you. It is my hope and prayer that as we gather together this Lord’s Day to worship our Triune God and Redeemer, you will be encouraged to cast your cares upon the Lord and to draw near to God by faith in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. If you are new here in Fair Lawn, please join us for fellowship following the benediction, and be sure to sign our guestbook. We look forward to personally speaking with you, and if there are any prayer concerns in your heart, don’t hesitate to bring them to our attention.
Pastor John Keegan
This morning in Isaiah 20:1-6, we will see how Isaiah’s three-year prophetic portrayal of dismay and shame, as a sign to Judah because of his reliance on Egypt and Cush, is contrasted with the hope that does not disappoint for all who rely on Jesus Christ alone for salvation, sanctification, and eternal life.
This evening in 2 Samuel 19:8-39, unfolded in four vignettes, we will learn how the kingdom of God, once fractured by sin, has now been and is being restored through the mercies of God in Christ extended to rebels.
Grace OPC Members: Elections for the Office of Ruling Elder following morning worship
The Session is pleased and thankful to announce that we have examined Tyler Teschon and Kevin Vasquez on their understanding, convictions and articulation of the system of doctrine contain in the Westminster Standards - derived from Holy Scripture; agreement with the Book of Church Order of the OPC; and the biblical role and responsibilities of a ruling elder in shepherding Christ's church.
The Session upon examining these two men and hearing of Kerith and Debra's support of Tyler and Kevin, respectively, in their potential calling as ruling elder, have certified that Tyler and Kevin "possess the necessary qualifications for office" (Form of Government XXV.4.).
As communicated via email on August 9 and in last Sunday’s bulletin (August 13th), the Session has called for a Special Congregational Meeting in order to conduct an election "from among those certified" (ibid.) to be held immediately following the morning benediction (during the coffee hour).
